We’re a group of five retired guys, four Double IPA (DIPA) lovers and our designated driver, who enjoy the thrill of experiencing new and dynamic Double or Imperial IPAs. Initially, we included all IPAs but after experiencing the wonderful world of Double and Imperials, we now limit our consumption exclusively to DIPAs. We consider ourselves bona fide “beer snobs” who drink and enjoy only the “hoppiest” of brews.
We soon decided we needed a process to evaluate the DIPAs we’ve sampled, as a way of separating the best from the worst. We’re certainly not experts but we do know what we like and don’t like, so we developed our categories to reflect that.
- Must Try Before You Die – the very best DIPAs we’ve had.
- Try It, You’ll Like It – good DIPAs that we think you should enjoy.
- Take It or Leave It – adequate DIPA attempts, but we’re not too wild about them.
- Don’t Bother, Save Your Money – DIPAs not worthy of the name.
As you can see, you should have no trouble understanding exactly how we feel about the DIPAs we’ve tried. Our category names speak for themselves!
As we continue on our quest in search of the perfect DIPA, we want to share our tasting experiences with the rest of the hophead world. After all, there are so many DIPAs to choose from and so little time to try them all. This is our humble attempt to help other hopheads enjoy what we consider to be the very best DIPAs.
