INTRODUCTION
What makes our double IPA beer ratings method unique compared to other established beer rating sites, such as BeerConnoisseur ?
First of all, we limit our consumption and ratings exclusively to Double / Imperial IPAs (DIPAs), and pride ourselves on our acquired taste for only the “hoppiest” of beers.
Secondly, there’s only four of us self-professed “beer snobs”, so our ratings aren’t watered down by thousands of other raters, many of whom may not fully appreciate the unique character and flavor of a good DIPA.
We are hopheads, with lots of experience sampling lots of different double IPAs, who enjoy sharing our opinions with other like-minded folks!
DIPA RATING METHOD
The DIPA rating method uses a weighted set of graded taste parameters to describe and categorize the ‘Tasteability’ of each of its selected double IPA brews.
The ‘Tasteability’ categories form the basis of our website, ranging in taste from the best tasting double IPAs listed in the “Must Try Before You Die“ category, to the lowest rated beers.

BEST DIPAS OF THE MONTH / YEAR
In addition to recognizing the Top-10 DIPAs in the 4PAX database, MY4PAX has established two additional awards – Double IPA of the Month (DOM) | Double IPA of the Year (DOY) – to recognize outstanding hoppy flavor in established, and lesser known craft beers. The two double IPAs depicted above, i.e. Winged Creature and Stone Cold Stunner, represent the most recent selections of the DOM and DOY, respectively.
These DIPAs are selected from the “MustTry Before You Die” and the “Try It, You’ll Like It ” ‘Tasteability’ categories, based on their relative ‘Tasteability’ rating, and the overall “pleasure” they impart to one’s palate and senses, as judged by MY4PAX.
A cumulative list of the monthly DIPA winners – 2018 Monthly Winners ,2019 Monthly Winners , 2020 Monthly Winners, 2021 Monthly Winners , 2022 Monthly Winers – is maintained for the benefit of the true DIPA aficionado. It provides an up-to-date list of excellent double IPAs that the DIPA enthusiast can select from whenever he or she desires a high quality, hoppy brew.
